Jeg er meget spændt på hvordan denne udsendelse vil portrættere 911truth bevægelsen. Når jeg kigger på programmet slår det mig som problematisk at 911 bliver lagt i samme kurv som andre konspirationsteorier, der har en klart højere tosse-faktor (fodbold 58), og en klart lavere aktuel-relevans-faktor – 911 er den aktuelle drivkraft bag enorme negative udviklinger såsom aggressive imperialistiske krige og tendenser til politistat i både Europa og USA.
Derudover ligner det et klart ‘kill’ at bringe en film med en mand der skal forklare os forskellen på virkeligheden og konspirationsteorier, og forskellen på politisk aktivitet, og konspirations-forskning… begge falske dichotomier.
I det hele taget ligger fokus for denne tema-aften klart på at betragte eksempler på fænomenet ‘konspirationsteori’ hvorfor jeg tvivler på at der vil blive plads til en egentlig substantiel behandling af de enkelte teoriers indhold.
Hvis man vil gøre 911truth en tjeneste bør man fokusere på at det er en bevægelse snarere end en konspirationsteori, og tilmed en bevægelse, der efterhånden kan mønstre ganske højt profilerede medlemmer eksempelvis: Andreas Von Bülow, Michael Meacher, Charlie Sheen, og mange andre.
Der er flere billeder af udsendelsens tilrettelægger Ole Retsbo sammen med konspirations-über-geek Jim Marrs, som ikke er en central person i 911truth bevægelsen. Marrs har skrevet om 911 men blot som et blandt tusind andre tossede emner.
Der er også et billede af Alex Jones som faktisk er en central person i 911truth bevægelsen og en ret seriøs og energisk person. F.eks. maner han klart til besindighed i det kontroversielle Pentagon/flight77 spørgsmål i modsætning til film som “Loose Change“, og antager jeg sensationalister som Marrs.
Men Alex Jones er en ret skrydende person, og han har også andre tosse-teorier på programmet, hvilket tilsammen giver ham en profil der er let at misrepræsentere og gøre til genstand for ‘strawman attacks‘. Jeg kunne frygte at det er derfor han er blevet udvalgt istedet for den stærkere og mere seriøst profilerede David Ray Griffin… Får vi mon ham at se???
Når solen går ned på Lørdag, vil en ting måske fungere som lakmus-prøve på om denne udsendelse er et stykke fair journalistik eller en ‘hit-piece’:

Psychologists tell us that many people’s view of the government is a projection of their view of their parents. In other words, whatever they believe about their parents, they also believe about the government. The personal is the political in more ways than one.
An article that approaches the problem of telling other people about 911truth, when they may be emotionally inhibited from realizing the truth.
It uses an analogy in which it says, that it would be as hard for many Americans to realize that his government committed 911, as it would be for him to realize that his own parents killed his own brother.

Employees and contractors working for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, along with a U.S. Geological Survey scientist working at an NOAA lab, said in interviews that over the past year administration officials have chastised them for speaking on policy questions; removed references to global warming from their reports, news releases and conference Web sites; investigated news leaks; and sometimes urged them to stop speaking to the media altogether. Their accounts indicate that the ideological battle over climate-change research, which first came to light at NASA, is being fought in other federal science agencies as well.

Nowadays, anyone who wishes to combat lies and ignorance and to write the truth must overcome at least five difficulties. He must have the courage to write the truth when truth is everywhere opposed; the keenness to recognize it, although it is everywhere concealed; the skill to manipulate it as a weapon; the judgment to select those in whose hands it will be effective; and the cunning to spread the truth among such persons. These are formidable problems for writers living under Fascism, but they exist also for those writers who have fled or been exiled; they exist even for writers working in countries where civil liberty prevails.
“Most people prefer to believe their leaders are just and fair, even in the face of evidence to the contrary, because once a citizen acknowledges that the government under which he lives is lying and corrupt, the citizen has to choose what he or she will do about it. To take action in the face of corrupt government entails risks of harm to life and loved ones. To choose to do nothing is to surrender one’s self-image of standing for principles. Most people do not have the courage to face that choice. Hence, most propaganda is not designed to fool the critical thinker but only to give moral cowards an excuse not to think at all.”
